Brief Biography
Served eighteen (18) years as chair in three departments in the Visual Arts at Syracuse University. Received two Fulbright Awards as Senior Lecturer in Colombia, 1985, and Chile, 1993. Recipient of National Endowment Grant in Video and New York State Council on the Arts project grant (with Lucinda Devlin)
Research and Teaching Interests
The body, early industrial technology and perception, surveillance technology, imaging technology, medical imaging and cultural history of technologies; artist’s video.
Current Research
Completing a series of video recordings from the Gulf Coast of Mexico into the mountains of the Huasteca and Jarocho regions concerned with the tradition of trio music from these areas.
Interactions of humans with animals.
Investigating unfamiliar phenomena is a continuing interest which provides conceptual frameworks for video research.
