Since 2005, I made continuously the experimental films include Cosmic Emptiness, My village Kwang-an 3dong(2006), The conversation with Dr. Mouse and The Crossing(2007). This works have various approach in the point of media, video, super 8 film and hand processing film. Even though I have used the different media, the world that I express is similar with each other. BA Radio and TV 2003, National Chengchi University, Taiwan
Research Interests
Personal Documentary, Home Video, Collective Memory, Independent Media, Personal History, Chinese Culture, Globalization and WTO.
Yu-Lun was born in Taiwan. Growing up, he never thought he would become a filmmaker because he did not really appreciate movies until he watched his first non-Hollywood film by Takeshi Kitano his freshman year of college. From that day on, he became interested in the lack of non-Hollywood movies in Taiwanese theaters. The reason behind the absence of non-Hollywood movies in theaters upset him. As a result, he realized that a filmmaker should not just care about his film itself. There is still much more for filmmakers to accomplish.

Artist Statement
The largest part of my life has been in the dark theater interacting with films reflected by light. It is fascinating for me to reconstruct time, space and environment in cinematic reality. In my work visual components embodied by character's consciousness represent unconsciousness along with creating tension between expressionist space and sound. Through traveling different worlds physically and emotionally, I have became a mixture of everywhere as well as I have positioned nowhere as a nomad. My current work is focusing on the sense of disappearing identity yet celebrating it with my visual method.

BA Theater and Film 2004, summa cum laude, Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea
Artist Statement
As an independent filmmaker, I want to explore the condition of human life and reflect on my sense of value toward it through an alternative cinematic storytelling. By working creatively with image and sound, I always seek for the aesthetic value of cinema. In my film, everything is possible with its leaps in not only cinematic time and space but also reality and fantasy. I hope to share precious moments of life with my audience by making them look back upon their lives through my works.
